Resumption Of Flight Operations: Sen. Bassey Albert Others Make Case For Ibom International Airport Reopening

Today Sen Albert Bassey on behalf of the Akwa Ibom Caucus in the senate drew the attention of the senate to the urgent need to include Ibom International Airport in the list of airports to be opened on June 21.

During his presentation he stressed that Ibom airport with 105 flights a week and in addition to the newly acquire CRJ 900 by the State Govt to cover additional routes across the country in addition to being a hub in the region covering Aba, umuahia, ph, Calabar, Arochukwu etc sustained closure for commercial flights will deprive the people of this region socio- economic benefits at this critical time .

The senate has directed the Chairman Committee on Aviation to immediate Liaise with the Aviation Authorities to ensure that the Ibom Int’L airport is among the airports to be opened on Jun 21.

He thanked the senate for this quick intervention and giving the people of Aks this sense of belonging .(outlook media).
