Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Imohimi Edgal, has ordered the immediate arrest of an Inspector, Bassey Ikpe, for allegedly beating a woman, one Mrs. Deborah Nkereuwem Nkpenie, to death, last Thursday.
Mr. Edgal in a statement issued tonight in Uyo by the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Odiko Macdon directed the Deputy Commissioner in charge of State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, to carry out a thorough investigation into the matter.
He pledged the Command’s commitment to policing with great respect for human rights.
