In line with the efforts of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Folashade Yemi- Esan, CFR, in repositioning the Federal Civil Service to a World Class Service through the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021-2025, (FCSSIP 25), the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (FMHAPA) has inaugurated a 15 – Man Committee to champion Reform Coordination and Innovation in the Ministry.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr Abel Enitan, who inaugurated the Committee in Abuja, noted that with the committee in place, service delivery is achievable.
A statement signed by Iliya Ishaku Rhoda, Deputy Director, Information and Public Relations on Wednesday in Abuja said said the Committee will promote creativity in the Ministry and urged all staff to be more innovative in their day to day activities.
He emphasised that service delivery is always devoid of tribe and personal gains and called on Public Servants at all levels to embrace innovation as the hallmark of service delivery.
He said that, “Innovation in the public sector refers to significant improvements in public administration and services which can also be seen as the implementation of new and improved processes, methods or services aimed at refining the public sector.
It equally involves new ideas and building on the existing ones”.
He advised the 15 – Man Committee drawn from different Departments of the Ministry to adhere strictly to the Committee’s Terms of Reference. He urged them to be diligent while discharging their duties.
Enitan also presented awards to outstanding staff of the Ministry for the most punctual and the best dressed. He stressed the importance of recognition and reward as ways to improve service delivery.
“Punctuality helps to achieve more in the service, while dressing well creates a good image of the organisation. Those who have been found worthy in this capacity need to be rewarded”
Mr Enitan explained that the Ministry had in the past rewarded performing staff and stated that subsequently the reward and recognition will be done twice in the year to give room for other staff who have performed well.
He thanked Mr. President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Folashade Yemi Esan, for their commitments towards repositioning the Civil Service.
“President Bola Tinubu Renewed Hope Agenda is yielding positive results, we cannot afford to let him down, let’s give in our best to make the Country move forward”.
He thanked the Director, Reforms Coordination and Service Improvement (RC&SI) Department in the Ministry, Barry Odii and his staff for their effort in initiating such ideas and challenged all departments to engage in programmes that will transform the service.
In an opening remarks, the Director of Reform Coordination and Service Improvement Department, Mr. Barry Odii said the idea of constituting the Committee is to bring brains together to enhance service delivery and promote innovation in the Public Service
Mr. Barry stated that members of the Committee were officers on Salary Grade levels 13 to 15 who have known the nitty gritty of the public service .
He also stated that the committee was established to discourage the departments from working in silos but work as a team in proffering solutions towards effective service delivery.
The Deputy Director, Civil Service Transformation Department (CSTD) -OHCSF, Mrs.Gloria C. Azoro, thanked the Ministry for selecting capable hands to champion the Innovation agenda of the Ministry.
Mrs. Azoro applauded the awardees for their outstanding performance. She said Public Service is becoming interesting and was optimistic that with this kind of innovation many officers are going to turn a new leave.
