Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has assured that the State will support the Seplat Energy Group in its vision and strategy to “remain Nigeria’s leading independent energy provider.”

Speaking during a courtesy visit to the Governor at the Government House, Uyo, by the Board and Management of Seplat Group following its successful acquisition of Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited (“MPNU”), he said the government, under his leadership, is people-oriented and will support initiatives that benefit the people of the State.

He noted that the State has an enabling environment as well as world-class accommodations, such as the Udom Emmanuel Towers, and called on the oil company to consider acquiring spaces there to enhance its operations.

The Governor highlighted the State’s employment portal, which contains details of unemployed youths, and urged Seplat executives to visit the site to harness the required manpower whenever the need arises.

While recollecting some of his experiences with ExxonMobil, he expressed optimism that, given the caliber of individuals in the management of Seplat Energy, led by Senator Udoma Udo Udoma, the company will thrive.

He appreciated the team for the visit and promised the necessary support to ensure their success.

Earlier, the Board Chairman of Seplat Energy Group, Senator Udoma, stated that the visit was to formally inform the Governor that Seplat Energy Plc has acquired the entire share capital of Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited (MPNU) from Exxon Mobil Corporation, Delaware (“ExxonMobil”).

He noted that Seplat Energy is aware that MPNU’s operations have significant activities in Akwa Ibom State, hence the visit to officially inform the Governor of the development and to seek support and cooperation in ensuring a seamless transition from ExxonMobil to Seplat Energy Plc.

The Board Chairman added that SEPNU’s operations will focus on ensuring safe operations, reopening shut-in wells, increasing production, embarking on an extensive drilling campaign, and unlocking the enormous gas reserves in these fields.

He also emphasized that SEPNU will work to build a strong and mutually beneficial relationship with the Akwa Ibom State Government, the communities within which they operate, and other stakeholders.

Other members of the team included the CEO of Seplat Energy, Roger Brown; Managing Director of SEPNU, Mr. Oladotun Isiaka; Director of External Affairs, Mrs. Chioma Afe; GM, Corporate Services, Mrs. Emo Udobong-Ntia; GM, Public and Government Affairs, Mr. Oge Udeagha; and Government Relations Lead QIT, Mr. Esumo Effiong.

On the Governor’s team were the Deputy Governor, Senator Akon Eyakenyi; Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah; Executive Assistant and Chief Delivery Advisor to the Governor, Mr. Aniefiok Johnson; the immediate past Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Uko Udom, SAN; and others.
