Banjul, The Gambia – 22 July 2025: A four-day retreat and capacity-building workshop for communication officers of the ECOWAS Commission, Institutions, and Agencies has commenced in Banjul. Organized by the ECOWAS Directorate of Communication in collaboration with GIZ, the workshop seeks to enhance participants’ skills in strategic, digital, and impact-driven communications, while laying the groundwork for the development of a comprehensive ECOWAS Communication Strategy aligned with the ECOWAS’s Vision 2050.

In his opening remarks, the Director of Cabinet, Office of the President of the ECOWAS Commission, Mr. Abdou KOLLEY said the retreat, “marks a major milestone in our collective journey and builds on the foundations laid during our last Communications Retreat in Lagos in 2024 and now moves us into a new phase, which is the development of a comprehensive ECOWAS Communication Strategy, fully aligned with the goals and spirit of Vision 2050. impact.” In a goodwill message, the German Ambassador to The Gambia, H.E. Klaus BOTZET underscored the retreat’s alignment with ECOWAS’s integration agenda. Declaring the Retreat open on behalf of the President of the ECOWAS Commission, H.E. Dr. Omar Alieu Omar TOURAY, the ECOWAS Resident Representative in the Gambia, H.E. Miatta Lily FRENCH, described the retreat as “not merely a training program but a strategic turning point, and a moment to re-imagine, re-examine and recalibrate how ECOWAS communicates to the world.”

Banjul, Gambie – 22 juillet 2025 : Une retraite et un atelier de renforcement des capacités de 4 jours pour les responsables de la communication de la Commission, des institutions et des agences de la CEDEAO ont débuté ce jour à Banjul. Organisé par la Direction de la Communication de la CEDEAO en collaboration avec la GIZ, l’atelier vise à renforcer les compétences des participants en matière de communication stratégique et numérique axée sur l’impact, tout en jetant les bases de l’élaboration d’une stratégie de communication globale de la CEDEAO alignée sur la Vision 2050.

Dans son discours d’ouverture, le Directeur de Cabinet du Président de la Commission de la CEDEAO, M. Abdou KOLLEY, a déclaré que cette retraite « marque une étape importante dans notre voyage collectif et s’appuie sur les fondations jetées lors de notre dernière retraite de communication à Lagos en 2024 et nous fait maintenant entrer dans une nouvelle phase, qui est le développement d’une stratégie de communication globale de la CEDEAO, entièrement alignée sur les objectifs et l’esprit de la Vision 2050. Dans un message de bonne volonté, l’Ambassadeur d’Allemagne près la Gambie, S.E. Klaus BOTZET, a souligné l’alignement de la retraite sur le programme d’intégration de la CEDEAO. Intervenant au nom du Dr Omar Alieu Omar TOURAY, Président de la Commission de la CEDEAO, la Représentante Résidente de la CEDEAO en Gambie, S.E. Miatta Lily FRENCH, a décrit la retraite comme « « non seulement un programme de formation mais un tournant stratégique, et un moment pour réimaginer, réexaminer et recalibrer la façon dont la CEDEAO communique avec le monde ».

Banjul, Gâmbia – 22 de julho de 2025 : Um retiro de quatro dias e um workshop de reforço das capacidades para os responsáveis de comunicação da Comissão, das Instituições e das Agências da CEDEAO teve início em Banjul. Organizado pela Direção de Comunicação da CEDEAO em colaboração com a GIZ, o workshop procura melhorar as competências dos participantes em comunicações estratégicas, digitais e orientadas para o impacto, ao mesmo tempo que lança as bases para o desenvolvimento de uma Estratégia de Comunicação abrangente da CEDEAO alinhada com a Visão 2050 da Comissão.

No seu discurso de abertura, o Diretor de Gabinete, Gabinete do Presidente da Comissão da CEDEAO, Sr. Abdou KOLLEY, disse que o retiro, “assinala um marco importante na nossa jornada colectiva e baseia-se nas fundações lançadas durante o nosso último Retiro de Comunicações em Lagos em 2024 e agora nos move para uma nova fase, que é o desenvolvimento de uma Estratégia de Comunicação abrangente da CEDEAO, totalmente alinhada com os objectivos e espírito da Visão 2050. impacto.” Numa mensagem de boa vontade, o Embaixador da Alemanha na Gâmbia, S.E. Klaus BOTZET sublinhou o alinhamento do retiro com a agenda de integração da CEDEAO. Ao declarar o retiro aberto em nome do Presidente da Comissão da CEDEAO, S.E. Dr. Omar Alieu Omar TOURAY, o Representante Residente da CEDEAO na Gâmbia, S.E. Miatta Lily FRENCH, descreveu o retiro como “não apenas um programa de formação, mas um ponto de viragem estratégico e um momento para reimaginar, reexaminar e recalibrar a forma como a CEDEAO comunica com o mundo”.
