The Air Officer Commanding Tactical Air Command (AOC TAC), Air Vice Marshal Michael Ekwueme, paid an operational visit to the Theatre Headquarters of Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, in Maiduguri on 30 January 2026.
Received by the Theatre Commander, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, the AOC commended troops for their resilience, discipline, and courage in the fight against insurgency.
A statement signed by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba,Media Information Officer Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI on Sunday in Abuja.
He assured the Command of sustained and enhanced air support, including the deployment of additional air platforms to overcome operational challenges and consolidate gains toward restoring peace in the region.
Major General Abubakar welcomed the visit, noting that timely and effective air support has been critical to mission success despite the increasing complexity of operations.
He emphasised the importance of strong ground-to-air coordination, improved transition capabilities, and continuous in-theatre training in boosting joint operational effectiveness.
The visit featured operational briefings, exchange of souvenirs, signing of the visitors’ book, group photographs, and a guided tour of the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI
