The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Olufemi Oluyede, has urged troops of Joint Task Force South South Operation Delta Safe (JTF SS OPDS) to carry out their responsibilities with the highest level of professionalism and integrity. He gave the charge during the commissioning of an ultra-modern Non-Commissioned Officers’ accommodation and a remodelled conference hall at the Headquarters of JTF SS OPDS in Igbogene, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
The CDS warned troops against engaging in any form of illegal activity or compromise while performing their duties, particularly in safeguarding oil and gas infrastructure.
He emphasized that protecting these critical national assets remains essential to Nigeria’s economic sustainability and national security.
General Oluyede reaffirmed his commitment to improving the welfare and working conditions of Armed Forces personnel.
He noted that enhanced welfare packages are being proposed to ensure that service members remain motivated, supported, and capable of delivering on their mandates effectively.
He commended the Commander of JTF SS OPDS, Olugbenga Oladipo, for successfully executing the projects, describing them as valuable contributions to operational effectiveness and troop welfare.
In his response, Rear Admiral Oladipo expressed appreciation to the CDS for commissioning the projects and highlighted that the 24-apartment facility is equipped with 24-hour solar power, water supply, bedding, and cooling systems.
He reiterated his commitment to prioritizing troop welfare to enhance morale and strengthen efforts to protect oil and gas infrastructure, deter militancy, combat sea robbery, and safeguard lives and property in the Niger Delta.
