The Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) sustained a high operational tempo across all theatres between 9 and 13 February 2026, conducting coordinated kinetic and non-kinetic operations aimed at neutralising threats, protecting civilians, and restoring peace.

Defence Headquarters reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism, accountability, and transparent communication while safeguarding the welfare of personnel.

Within the North East, troops of the Joint Task Force Operation HADIN KAI intensified intelligence-driven offensives across Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa States. Several terrorists were neutralised, eight arrested, and eleven kidnapped victims rescued. Large quantities of arms, ammunition, and IED-making materials were recovered, significantly disrupting terrorist networks.

In a separate encounter in Komala Village, Jere LGA of Borno State, troops successfully ambushed terrorists, neutralising dozens and recovering weapons, logistics items, and equipment.

In a statement signed by Major General Michael Onoja the Director of Defence Media Operations(DDMO) said the Air Component conducted precision air interdiction missions in Bama and Damboa LGAs, destroying terrorist enclaves and neutralising fleeing insurgents following effective reconnaissance and strike operations.

In the North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA recorded notable gains across Zamfara, Kano, and Katsina States. Troops neutralised several terrorists, arrested four suspects, and rescued two kidnapped victims. Weapons, vehicles, and rustled livestock were also recovered, further weakening criminal elements operating in the region.

Across the North Central, Operations SAVANNAH SHIELD, ENDURING PEACE, and WHIRL STROKE sustained pressure on terrorists and kidnappers in Kwara, Niger, Plateau, Kaduna, Benue, Taraba, and Kogi States. Troops dislodged criminal hideouts, arrested multiple suspects, rescued over 26 kidnapped victims, and recovered arms and ammunition, including the capture of a major camp in Kogi State.

In the South-South, Operation DELTA SAFE thwarted oil theft activities, dismantling nine illegal refining sites and arresting eleven oil thieves. Troops also apprehended a wanted IPOB/ESN terrorist and a gunrunner in Rivers State. Meanwhile, in the South-East, Operation UDO KA conducted cordon and search operations across several states, arresting eight terrorists and recovering arms and ammunition.

Overall, the operational successes recorded during the week reflect the unwavering commitment and resilience of AFN personnel. The Chief of Defence Staff, Olufemi Olatubosun Oluyede, commended troops for their professionalism and assured Nigerians of sustained efforts to intensify operations, strengthen inter-agency collaboration, and adapt strategies to address evolving security challenges nationwide.
