The Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), Prof. Charles Anosike, and the Rector of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Dr. Danjuma Ismaila, have formalised a strategic partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at NiMet’s headquarters in Abuja.
The agreement reflects both institutions’ commitment to strengthening collaboration in professional training, capacity development, and improving service delivery across Nigeria’s aviation and meteorological sectors.
The partnership is designed to enhance technical competence and operational standards within the industry.
Under the MoU, NiMet and NCAT will collaborate on the use of training facilities, provide advisory support for aviation training programmes, and deliver specialised long- and short-term courses tailored for NiMet personnel.
The arrangement also includes staff exchange programmes and joint training initiatives to deepen institutional cooperation.
The partnership further enables the use of NiMet’s Training School in Oshodi, Lagos, for ICAO-compliant aviation training. It will focus on critical professional areas such as aviation operations and management, safety management systems, crisis management, aviation security, air navigation systems, airport operations, and Diploma training in Aviation Meteorology.
Prof. Anosike emphasised that sustained investment in human capital development, technical collaboration, and institutional partnerships remains essential to advancing operational excellence.
He noted that the initiative will contribute significantly to safe and efficient air navigation in Nigeria while strengthening the country’s aviation ecosystem.
