The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has stepped up efforts to ensure the successful implementation of the National Single Window (NSW) project as part of Nigeria’s broader trade modernisation and digital transformation agenda.

During a stakeholder engagement meeting with airline and shipping line operators in Abuja on 4 March 2026, the Comptroller-General of Customs emphasised the importance of collaboration in achieving a seamless rollout of the initiative.

He highlighted that the support and cooperation of critical stakeholders have been instrumental in the progress made so far in the Service’s modernisation drive.

The Comptroller-General further revealed that Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the Service to take decisive steps towards launching the National Single Window, which aims to position Nigeria as a competitive player in global trade.

According to him, airline and shipping line operators remain key partners in facilitating a smooth transition to the new digital platform.

He also assured stakeholders that the Service has established adequate support systems, including a help desk staffed with trained personnel to address operational challenges during the implementation phase.

Earlier, during an awareness programme held on 3 March 2025, Customs mobilised stakeholders and partner agencies to support the initiative, describing the National Single Window as a strategic reform aligned with its mandate of trade facilitation, revenue generation, and inter-agency coordination.

The Deputy Comptroller-General in charge of ICT and Modernisation, Oluyomi Adebakin, described the project as a major milestone in Customs’ modernisation efforts and noted that extensive preparatory work has been carried out to ensure effective implementation.

With the active leadership of the NCS and strong collaboration with stakeholders, the National Single Window project is expected to transform Nigeria’s trade environment, boost revenue generation, and strengthen the country’s standing in the global trading system.
