A delegation from the Defence Headquarters (DHQ), led by Major General IM Abdullahi, Chief of Administration (Army), paid condolence visits to the family of the late Major General Rabe Abubakar (rtd) and the Katsina State Government on 14 June 2026.

The delegation conveyed the condolences of the Chief of Defence Staff, General OO Oluyede, and the Armed Forces of Nigeria to the bereaved family, as well as the government and people of Katsina State.

In a press statement issued by Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja,Media Information OfficerJoint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA noted that

during the visit to the family residence in Katsina, Major General Abdullahi described the late General Abubakar as a patriotic and dedicated officer who served Nigeria with distinction throughout his military career.

He noted that the deceased made significant contributions to the Nigerian Army and the nation’s security architecture, leaving behind a legacy of professionalism and selfless service.

The DHQ representative assured the family that the Armed Forces and relevant security agencies would work tirelessly to ensure that those responsible for the late General’s death are brought to justice.

He also reaffirmed the military’s commitment to supporting the family during this difficult period and preserving the memory of the late senior officer.

As a mark of honour and recognition of his service to the nation, Major General Abdullahi presented a National Flag to the family on behalf of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

Responding on behalf of the family, Alhaji Dikko Mu’azu Ruma expressed gratitude to the Chief of Defence Staff and the Armed Forces for their solidarity, support, and compassion.

He acknowledged the inevitability of death, prayed for the peaceful repose of the late General’s soul, and thanked the delegation for standing by the family during their time of grief.

The delegation also visited the Katsina State Government House, where they were received by the Deputy Governor, Mallam Faruk Lawal Jobe, on behalf of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda.

During the meeting, Major General Abdullahi conveyed the condolences of the Armed Forces to the state government and people of Katsina over the loss of one of the state’s distinguished sons.

The Deputy Governor described the death of Major General Abubakar as a painful loss to both Katsina State and Nigeria, noting that his commitment to national service would continue to inspire future generations.

He called for stronger collaboration among stakeholders to tackle insecurity and eliminate the activities of terrorists and criminal elements, while reaffirming the state government’s support for ongoing military operations in the North-West.

The visit concluded with special prayers for the late General, while Major General Abdullahi commended the Katsina State Government for its support to security operations. Senior military officers, retired service chiefs, traditional rulers, family members, and prominent sons of Katsina State attended the condolence visits.
