The ECOWAS Commission has reinforced its commitment to humanitarian assistance and regional solidarity with the commissioning of key development projects for vulnerable populations and host communities in Ghana under the ECOWAS Humanitarian Project on Persons of Concern (PoCs).
Representing the President of the ECOWAS Commission, H.E. Dr. Omar Alieu Touray, the ECOWAS delegation was led by Ambassador Mohammed Lawan Gana, ECOWAS Resident Representative to Ghana, alongside Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Ag., Director of Humanitarian and Social Affairs at the ECOWAS Commission.
Working with the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Kwasi Adusei, the delegation paid courtesy visits to traditional rulers in beneficiary communities within Ahafo Ano North Municipality on June 22 and 23, 2026, reaffirming ECOWAS’ partnership with local authorities and community leaders.
The delegation officially commissioned a range of projects, including boreholes, school infrastructure, and livelihood support initiatives designed to improve access to clean water, enhance education, strengthen economic opportunities, and support both persons of concern and their host communities.
The visit also provided an opportunity to assess the impact of the projects on community resilience and sustainable development. ECOWAS reiterated its commitment to promoting inclusive humanitarian interventions that improve living conditions and foster stability across Member States.
