Operation HADIN KAI has recorded another significant success in its counter-terrorism campaign with the surrender of two high-ranking terrorist commanders to troops of Sector 2 in Geidam, Yobe State.

The commanders, identified as Munzirs within the terrorist leadership structure, surrendered on 4 July 2026 and arrived in Maiduguri on 5 July, where they are currently in military custody.

In a press statement issued by Captain Mohammed Goni, Acting Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, Maiduguri, on 7 July 2026.

According to the military, the surrendered commanders are undergoing detailed profiling, debriefing and intelligence exploitation to obtain critical information about the terrorist group.

Preliminary interrogation revealed that both individuals occupied influential leadership positions and possess extensive knowledge of the group’s operations, command structure and logistics network.

Military authorities disclosed that initial intelligence gathered from the debriefing has already provided valuable insights into the terrorists’ operational methods, supply chains and support networks.

The intelligence is expected to strengthen ongoing intelligence-led operations aimed at locating, disrupting and dismantling remaining terrorist enclaves across the North-East.

Operation HADIN KAI described the surrender as another major setback for the terrorist group, attributing it to sustained military offensives carried out in collaboration with partner security agencies.

The military noted that coordinated land and air operations, backed by enhanced intelligence efforts, have continued to restrict terrorists’ movement, weaken their combat capability and dismantle their command structures.

It added that the sustained pressure is forcing more terrorist leaders and fighters to abandon the insurgency and surrender as continued resistance becomes increasingly difficult.

In a statement signed by Captain Mohammed Goni, Acting Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, on 7 July 2026, the military reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive operations, exploiting actionable intelligence and working with relevant stakeholders until all terrorist elements are neutralised or compelled to surrender, restoring lasting peace and security across the North East.
