The Nigerian Navy has intensified its crackdown on illicit drug trafficking, recording a major success through a joint operation with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Warri, Delta State. The coordinated operation disrupted drug distribution activities and led to the arrest of a suspected drug trafficker.

The operation was carried out by personnel of Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) DELTA alongside NDLEA operatives as part of sustained efforts to rid the Navy’s operational area of criminal networks involved in the trafficking and sale of illegal drugs.

According to a statement signed by Navy Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, Director of Naval Information, Nigerian Navy on Monday in Abuja said that Security operatives conducted coordinated raids across the Urchie, Uvwiamuge, Orthokpor, and Usiefrun areas of Warri, targeting identified drug hotspots. The raids resulted in the arrest of one suspect linked to the illicit drug trade.

During the operation, the joint team recovered various illegal substances, including Molly, Cannabis, and Skuruchi, dealing a significant setback to the activities of local drug dealers operating within the area.

The Nigerian Navy said the successful operation reflects the growing synergy between security agencies in tackling drug trafficking and other criminal activities that threaten public safety, peace, and national security across the country.

Reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding Nigeria’s maritime and coastal environment, the Navy pledged to sustain intelligence-led operations and strengthen collaboration with relevant agencies to deny criminal elements the freedom to operate and ensure a safer environment for lawful economic activities.
